Game Idea Research
This week for the project research we were asked to choose our favourite idea from the brainstorm last week and continue researching that idea to further see if it would be a game we would enjoy making. From my brainstorming last week the idea I think I would enjoy the most and also be the most capable of making is the traffic light game. After re-reading my brainstorm post and considering all ideas I think this was the most structured and planned idea and would work well for this project.
Since my last post I've further researched this idea and thought of more ideas for it. One of my ideas is to have it single player game with a start and finish line. The game will begin and there will be a timer counting down, a player at the start line and a traffic light at the finish line. The player is only allowed to move forward when the light is green. If the player moves when the light is red they will either be sent back to the start line or eliminated. The game will get more difficult as the player gets closer to the finish line and the traffic light will change colour more frequently.
Ive found a series of youtube tutorials based on the squid game series of making the game in unity and here is a link to them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0f7tIAFZWIA, I think these will be useful in helping me create the game as they are quite similar.
Good idea Mary. It's nothing too complicated just plain and simple but still sounds enjoyable and an awful lot like Squid Game.

ReplyDeleteI think your game idea of "Traffic Light" is a great game idea to go with in the end. The Idea of a single player game is a good shout. The game does sound like a challenge for sure, really reminds me of something out of Squid Game with red light green light game.

ReplyDeleteI am obsessed with this game already from just hearing your plan hahah. It sounds like an easy game to play, but it will sure get the player more frustrated as you get further along. Are you going to have different character options or just have the one default character? This idea reminds me of musical chairs in a way, it will be interesting to see how you go about building the game.

ReplyDeleteThis is honestly the best game idea I have read! It's very trendy because of Squid Game therefore it would gain lots of popularity if you were to release it on the App Store. Will there be any music playing while the light is green?? I feel like this would help the user with the game. Here is a Roblox game, I advise you to check out https://www.roblox.com/games/7549229959/Squid-Game-x2-CASH the first level is a similar game you want to create but with the doll and setting from squid game. I am also thinking how will the player respawn back to the start if they fail? Will they be shot?? After watching the [Tutorial] RED LIGHT GREEN LIGHT in Unity #1 - Movement I think this is a great tutorial but maybe look for more tutorials to open my options for yourself and look at similar games or movies. You are doing great! Keep slaying!
Hi Mary I really like your idea for your traffic lights game sounds quite interesting and something I had never seen before. The idea of the red light and the green light telling you to either stop your star is very cool I feel like this game is very good because it sound like it will be widely accessible to a greater audience it sounds quite easy to understand and it seems like it would become very addicting as he would want to keep trying over and over again to finish and complete the level. I also really like the aspect of the light change in quicker as you get further into the level

This traffic light game is quite interesting mainly because of the fact that this whole game is trending everywhere because of the squid game series on Netflix. I understand what you want to make, I wonder how you are going to make this? Are you going to make the environment similar to Squid Game or are you going to an entirely different environment with a particular theme around the Traffic Light game? Overall this is idea is amazing ! And I wish you all the best in the development of the game!
